About us

CopyCatz is a group of successful freelance writers with experience and expertise across a host of industries and media.

We are drawn from a variety of backgrounds: marketing, press, social media and online. From sales brochures to websites, training to complex technical authoring, from automotive to zoology, we probably have a writer with the skills to match your requirements. And if we don’t, we’ll say so.

We work hard to understand your target audience and tailor our copy for maximum impact and results.

You may already have some copy that’s just not quite right – we can help.

Proof reading

Not only do we check for spelling, we ensure your copy meets brand requirements, is consistent throughout and in the most appropriate language for your target audience.

What we do

We have freelance writers, editors and proofreaders for any writing project big or small.

We can help with the following:

What we charge

No two CopyCatz projects are the same. Each piece of work is quoted on the specifics of the requirement and agreed with you in advance.  For most projects we can offer a fixed price quotation, but we also work on the basis of word-counts or daily rates, whichever you are most comfortable with, and whichever best suits the nature of the task. If you would like indicative guidance on pricing before arranging a briefing, simply call Lisa on: 01932 886775 or email her at lisa@copycatz.eu. We will normally have an idea of likely costs from our previous work.

How we work

We use a simple, proven five step process that gives you maximum value for money with as little or as much involvement as you choose.

  1. We arrange a briefing session, either face-to-face or over the telephone. You impart everything you wish to convey and the timescale for production.
  2. We provide a written brief confirming your requirements and a quotation (normally fixed-price based on the amount of work involved). At this stage, there is no commitment on your part to proceed.
  3. Once we are given the go-ahead, we send you a draft on a specified date for your approval and any comments. These are often best discussed over the telephone or face-to-face, but some clients simply prefer to mark-up the draft with their changes.
  4. Your comments are incorporated into a final draft which is then proofread and provided to you electronically in Microsoft Word for your use. Other media is also available, but may necessitate an additional cost.
  5. Upon payment, the copyright to use the material is yours, although the writer retains the rights to use the material for publicity purposes unless you agree specifically otherwise.

Brands we’ve worked for

As you would expect, we have a substantial portfolio of projects mostly written on a confidential basis. Just a few examples of our clients can be found here. We can provide examples of our work on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you write something personal for me?
It depends what it is! But so long as it’s legal and decent we will write anything you will pay for.

Do you create adverts?
We can certainly write advertising copy and through our contacts can also put you in touch with Art Directors and Designers.

Do you create websites?
We can write the content for you and can put you in touch with website Designers and Developers we know.

Will you write a press release?
Yes, so long as we have background information or research, we can write press-releases.

Do you write proposals?
Yes, we can, but we do not normally complete RFPs or Tender Documents on behalf of clients. We have enough of our own… However, telephone Lisa on 01932 886775 for a discussion if you are not sure whether we might be right for the task.

Can I meet the writer of my work?
If you/we think it’s necessary, then yes. But most of the time, the briefing process doesn’t require it. We have also found that clients are more honest in their assessment of the work if the writer is not present.

Do I own the copyright?
So long as you pay the quoted price for the work, the copyright to use it is yours – even if it’s a world-beating slogan that our writer creates for you.

How quickly do you work?
Most of our writers are commercial writers used to working to tight publication deadlines. However, writing is not like painting a wall. The best creative work can be extremely quick, but that’s not always the case. If we think a deadline is reasonable we will accept the brief. If we think it unreasonable, we’ll tell you why.
